Grief and Loss Counseling in Atlanta

Compassionate support for healing after loss.

Understanding Grief and Loss

Grief is a natural and deeply human response to loss—but that doesn’t make it easy. Whether you’ve lost a loved one, a relationship, a role, or a future you imagined, the pain of grief can feel overwhelming and disorienting. It can show up as sadness, anger, numbness, guilt, or confusion—sometimes all in the same day.

There’s no single “right” way to grieve, and no timeline that fits everyone. You may find that others move on faster than you do, or that people around you don’t quite understand what you’re feeling. You might also struggle to balance daily responsibilities while trying to process emotions that feel too big to face alone.

Therapy provides a safe space to give voice to your grief, honor what’s been lost, and find ways to move forward without minimizing your pain.

How Therapy Can Help With Grief

Grief counseling offers both emotional support and practical coping strategies for navigating loss. Together, we’ll create space to process emotions, explore memories, and understand how loss has changed the way you see yourself and your world.

In our sessions, we’ll focus on:

  • Making sense of the emotional, cognitive, and physical aspects of grief

  • Developing coping tools to manage intense waves of emotion

  • Finding ways to maintain connection and meaning without being trapped in sorrow

  • Rebuilding daily structure and stability while allowing space for healing

Sometimes grief needs to be witnessed and named; other times, it needs structure and guidance. Therapy helps you do both—honoring what you’ve lost while also supporting you as you rebuild your capacity for connection, joy, and purpose over time.

Why Work With Me

I’ve been a therapist since 2002, with more than 23 years of experience helping individuals navigate profound loss and life transitions. My approach combines empathy and clinical skill, integrating elements of grief counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and interpersonal process work to help you move through mourning with understanding and compassion.

Clients often describe our sessions as a space where they can breathe again—where emotion, reflection, and coping can coexist. I’ll meet you where you are, helping you find your footing at your own pace while gently encouraging progress when you’re ready.

Grief is not something to “get over.” It’s something to be carried differently—with more strength, meaning, and acceptance over time.
