Welcome!
Thank you for checking out my website. When searching for a counselor, there are some practical, logistical questions and then there are some relational and “fit” questions. Hopefully you will find all the information you need below. You can also schedule a free 15 minute consultation to determine if I am the therapist to help you work on your goals
My Approach to Psychotherapy
I believe effective therapy combines practical tools with deeper self-understanding.
For more than 20 years, I've helped adults navigate anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, major life transitions, and questions of identity and meaning. My goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you build a life that feels more authentic, purposeful, and connected.
I have a particular interest in the challenges that arise when the identities we've built—professionally, relationally, or personally—no longer reflect who we are or who we're becoming. While this often occurs during midlife, it can happen at any stage of life - after graduating, beginning a career, experiencing a significant loss, caring for a loved one, retiring or facing any transition that prompts us to reconsider who we are and where we’re headed. These experiences often bring uncertainty, but they can also create opportunities for growth and meaningful change.
Depending on your needs, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based approaches. Together we'll work to understand the patterns contributing to your distress while developing practical strategies that support lasting change.
I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative, thoughtful, and compassionate. Whether you're seeking relief from anxiety or depression, navigating grief or burnout, facing a transition, or simply trying to understand yourself more deeply, therapy can provide a place to slow down, make sense of your experience, and find a clearer path forward.
Areas of focus:

For most people, therapeutic work is non-linear and change takes longer than we’d like; so feeling like therapy hasn’t worked is pretty common. Fortunately, there are important changes that occur even when we have not yet reached our goals. Our work will build on all of your past therapeutic and life experiences, to find the keys to the change you want to have.

I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that is warm, collaborative, and thoughtful. You'll find someone who listens carefully, takes your concerns seriously, and works with you to better understand what you're experiencing.
At the same time, I don't see my role as simply agreeing with everything you say. Part of effective therapy is helping people recognize patterns, assumptions, and blind spots that are difficult to see on their own. When appropriate, I'll ask challenging questions, offer observations, and encourage you to consider perspectives you may not have explored before.
My goal is to help you better understand yourself so you can make choices that are more consistent with your values and the life you want to build.
Many clients appreciate that our work is both supportive and appropriately challenging. Lasting change often requires both.

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong before reaching out. Sometimes life no longer feels the way it once did. Other times, you've lived with anxiety, depression, or a sense that something isn't right for so long that it has begun to feel normal. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand what you're experiencing—and the possibility that life can feel different.
